Branwen + Tom | From “Man Cave” to Married

April 15th, 2012

Cherry blossoms and sunsets dotted Branwen and Tom’s wedding.

+ Expand - Close

Our intrepid adventurers from November 2012 (jump back here) have wrapped up their camping trip and brought it back home finally for the big party! Branwen and Tom dropped the cold weather hats and knitted jumpers for a smart tux and white wedding dress. But before they got dressed up, Tom invited us to check out is “man cave”. It’s a real man cave with multiple guitars ranging from acoustic to the “axe” and not to forget the usual assortment of alcoholic trappings that adorn the shelves in the cave. Very cool. I have to get one if I ever get the space (I highly recommend it to every man). After being introduced to his lair everyone jumped into wedding day mode. It was a whirlwind of shoes, necklaces, flowers, ties and Kransekage? Hint: you can’t wear the last one. The Danish Lutheran Church was a wedding photographer’s dream with a fantastic diffuse light illuminating all the guests inside. Take this as a tip if you’re looking for a church (big windows). Your photographer will love you for it. At the Diamond Center everyone was doubly blessed with thoughtful speeches from friends and family while the coast mountains were changing a multitude of colors as the sunset. We have put together a tonne of fantastic pictures documenting the day start to finish below. For anyone who couldn’t make the trip against the pond from Denmark, here’s the spread.

The authentic Heather Wright | Portraits

March 23rd, 2012

The gorgeous Heather was one of the lucky winner of Epic Events 12 days Giveaway back in December. We had the pleasure of finally meeting her at her home as she wanted to do the photoshoot in her natural habitat. When she is not the Sales and Events Manager for Louis Gervais Fine Foods & Catering, she loves to cook, reads (14 books at a given time), works on puzzles, and plays scrabble.

The beautiful wall by Karma Teachers studio has always caught our eyes and it’s definitely one of the most stunning graffiti in Vancouver. Before it turns into a parking lot and gets blocked by cars 24hours a day, we brought our smiles and happy energies and did a Just-For-Fun photoshoot.

Family Reunited | Taiki + Hiroka + Nanami

March 16th, 2012

One big happy yoga family reunites in Vancouver.

+ Expand - Close

Big hearts must be hereditary because it seems to run in this family. Nanami came to visit her brother and see if he really had turned into a long haired, West Coast hippie. Like her brother, Nanami is a yoga teacher in Japan. It was great that Nanami got to glimpse at Taiki and Hiroka’s involvement in the Vancouver community from Semperviva teacher training to their involvement with Karma teachers. Have a safe flight back home! Our next shoot will be in Hokkaido, Japan.

Wells Gray 2012 – Our Slice of Heaven

March 12th, 2012

Six days of the best skiing ever. A little different from the lift serviced skiing. Our motto is “earn your turns”. But they’re the sweetest turns you’ll ever have!

+ Expand - Close

Words like “sweeeet”, “it’s blower man” and “hero snow” would echo off the valley walls and float up to the peaks surrounding us. We were in untouched territory save for our own tracks. We savoured every sweet turn that mother nature rewarded us this past week on our back country ski trip up to Wells Gray Park. It wasn’t all hard work and sweat though. At night we got to cozy up in a wonderful cabin to 11 other new best pals. Song

s were sung, costume parties were held and most importantly the food was as epic as the snow. I’ve never eaten so good in a remote location. It might’ve been extra tasty because every can of beer and piece of tuna (soon to be seared tuna) was carried up on our backs. This was a trip where we worked hard and were rewarded in spades.

Cheers to team Pah-Tarmagin.

Karma Teachers studio shoot ~ Cause: Yoga | Effect: Giving

January 10th, 2012

Karma Teachers is founded by Emerson Lim, who graduated from Semperviva Yoga Teacher Training in December 2011. Karma Teachers is a community of Yoga Teachers offering free yoga lessons as a part of their dharma. Pure Souls is honored to be part of this amazing project and together with Emerson and the entire team of Karma Teachers, we have plans to make a big difference in people’s lives in the downtown eastside.

How did Karma Teachers come about?
Karma Teachers was a tiny idea that blossomed when a group of Yoga Teachers got together and discussed why they took the path of teaching yoga. The most common answer was very similar “Yoga transformed my life and I want to share and teach it to others.” The second question was “Would you do it on a karma basis by teaching yoga for free?” The answer was a resounding “Yes”. Karma Teacher was founded in November 2011.

Karma Teachers Intentions:
Karma teachers is a group of yoga teachers committed to selfless action and giving back to community. Our teachers are passionate about yoga and sharing its many benefits. By imparting yoga knowledge and skills, we are helping to enhance the lives of others and especially those living in our community. We make yoga accessible to those groups that might not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in yoga classes. In doing so, we are helping to revitalize Vancouver’s lower east side community.

Karma Teachers Mission:
Our mission is to share the benefits of yoga and enhance people’s lives while encouraging selfless action
Our mission is to build community and encourage selfless action through sharing the benefits of yoga
